Hey, it's Abram and Colton--the co-founders here at MyPlace. Here's how this whole thing started.
We had trouble trying to find the right place to live--especially during college. With hidden contract fees, inaccurate website photos, and unresponsive management, we felt like there was a lot we didn’t know about our apartments until we actually started living in them. While taking an entrepreneurship class at Brigham Young University, we were placed in a group together and thought, "Why isn't there a website where we can find transparent information about the complexes we are renting at--like a Rate My Professors website but for apartments?" Thus, Rate My Place was born (since renamed MyPlace).
The original intent was to complete the two-week crash course class using this idea and then forget about it. We had such good validation during those two weeks, however, that we figured we should do this thing for real!

Initial concept of Rate My Place was formed and V1 of the website was launched in late February

V2 of the website was completed and the first 42 complexes were added, as well as the "List Your Lease" feature

Plans to add all complexes in major cities of Utah, as well as Arizona, Colorado and Nevada. Rebranding to My Place.
