The printing machine never works. They said they were going to buy a new printer but that never happened. The online ledgers are so confusing to manage. Moving out I had problem with the ledger in which it says I had an insurance waiver charge for September but my rented ended in August. Then that charge got renamed to Damages. Found it too annoying to deal with so I just paid for it. Great that I only lived here for one year. Perks are they have private bathrooms, locked garages, gym, hot tub, and is located close to the school.

The carpets get dirty very fast and dust accumulates quickly in the bathroom and bedroom. 3. Elevator frequently down (this was bothersome especially because I was on the top floor) 4. Very very hot in the bedrooms during the summer almost unbearable. Due to heat traveling upwards, the 6th floor struggled the most with humid and hot conditions in the hallways and bedrooms 5. WiFi was very frustrating at times and very laggy. 6. My bike almost got stolen from the bike garage. 7. Printers often were out of paper, I would have to go to the other building at times to use the printer. To end on a positive note, here are some things I found good about my stay at the soto: 1. The study lounge is a productive environment. Can get loud at times, but most of the time it’s a good study spot 2. The hot tub was nice when it was not under maintenance 3. Staff and maintenance crew are always timely and helpful 4. The lobby was kept clean and refreshing 5. Kitchen was great and appliances worked fine. 6. Never had any issues with laundry unit or trash chute. For student living, the soto is not a bad option. The walk to campus is very reasonable (around 10 minutes). All things considered I am happy with my experience at the soto except for those few minor inconveniences.

Because of Oregon law, the Soto (and police) could do nothing about the daily drug use (smoking narcotics), the loud/inappropriate behavior, or the dangerous smoke and constant residue that the other boys were forced to live with and breathe. My son told me the smell was often unbearable and he would stay elsewhere. I spoke with the Soto's manager, Ben, several times and he assured me there were no free rooms or apartments available in the building and there was absolutely nothing he could do. My son moved out early and we continued to pay rent because it was our obligation, but I would never wish this situation on another kid or family.
